Andromeda Box IoT Platform Integrates Google OS

05 November 2015

Marvell has announced an integrated Andromeda Box Internet of Things (IoT) platform made for Brillo—Google's Android-based OS with support for Weave communication protocol. Using Marvell's SoC application processors, networking and wireless connectivity, the Andromeda Box targets rapid prototyping and development of IoT gateways and smart devices.

According to the company, the Box combines simplicity with OS-resident core services. Its support for the Weave protocol enables phones and devices to talk to each other locally and remotely through the cloud.

The Andromeda Box platform is a full package that provides an end-to-end solution that brings innovative products to market fast. The first Andromeda Box platform, Andromeda Box Edge, features Marvell's IAP140 quad-core ARM Cortex A53 application processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 802.15.4 connectivity solutions for high performance smart devices. The second is Andromeda Box Connect, which features Marvell's ARMADA 385 dual-core ARM Cortex A9 application processor with integrated SATA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 802.15.4 and 2.5GbE uplink to cloud services for IoT gateway solutions.
