Looking to further appease consumers’ demand for a fully-connected experience in vehicles, Volvo Cars has picked HERE, the telematics and navigation company, for its in-car control system for new and future automobiles.
Under the multi-year agreement, Volvo’s Sensus in-car system will be powered by HERE’s location, advanced maps and services that provide drivers with smart guidance both inside the car and out of it. The first model to incorporate the Sensus system will be the XC90, a luxury SUV from Volvo that began shipping earlier this year.
The Sensus in-car system will provide high quality maps with extensive range of attributes for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), turn-by-turn voice-guide navigation in 50 languages, local search, send-to-car functionality allowing drivers to pre-plan a route on their smartphone or tablet and Find Your Car app that enable drivers to use their smartphone to see their car on a map.
