The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has released two news documents:
ANSI/TIA-912-C Telecommunications - IP Telephony Equipment - Voice Gateway Transmission Requirements, covers transmission specification for voice gateways providing routing functions between telephones, traditional public and private networks, and modern packet-based networks. These include packet-based enterprise equipment, residential gateways, ADSL-based Integrated Access Devices (IADs), and cable-based Multimedia Terminal Adapters (MTAs). The revision adds requirements for supporting wideband (nominally 100 to 7,000 Hz) analog telephones that may be connected to voice gateways for providing High Definition (HD) voice services such as those available using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).
ANSI/TIA-912-C was formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-41 Performance and Accessibility for Communications Products, TR-41.3 Analog and Digital Wireline Terminals subcommittee.
TIA-1063-A Telecommunications - User Premises Equipment - Analog Telephone Port Requirements for Packet-based User Premises Terminal Adapters addresses several technical issues identified for performance requirements and testability. New proposals related to the digital signaling side of the ATA will be reviewed and considered as part of the revision project.
TIA-1063-A was formulated under the cognizance of the TIA TR-41 Performance and Accessibility for Communications Products, TR-41.3 Analog and Digital Wireline Terminals subcommittee.
The TIA is actively seeking participation from these committees and users and general interest communities.
