Digi-Key Signs Agreement with BlueCreation

Digi-Key has signed a distribution agreement with BlueCreation and will carry the component maker’s line of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules.

BlueCreation, based in the United Kingdom, specializes in Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Wi-Fi and other embedded wireless semiconductor modules usedin smart phones and tablets, including iPhones, iPads, iPods and Android phones and other similar equipment.

The company offers BLE parts that provide a dual-model BLE solution with concurrent stack that can run both BLE and standard Bluetooth. The solution provides access to a wider range of applications including sensor networks, energy and equipment monitoring and control and many additional applications concerning the Internet of Things.

Rafik Jallad, director at BlueCreation, said his company’s BC127 module and development kits provide the advanced features needed in the connecting devices market. He said BlueCreation will collaborate with Digi-Key “to leverage their distribution expertise to introduce the BC127 solution to the market.”

Chris Beeson, executive vice president of sales and supplier development for Digi-Key, said with the increased focus on low-power solutions, more engineers are turning to BLE solutions for their designs.

He added that BlueCreation’s dual-model BLE solution offers “unparalleled flexibility in leading-edge designs. We are excited to add these products to our Bluetooth lineup,” he said.

BlueCreation is an engineering team formed by ex-CSR employees. Digi-Key is based in Thief River Falls, Minn.

Meanwhile, distributor APC Novacom, based in the United Kingdom, has extended a distribution agreement with Cree Inc. The distributor now carries all Cree RF devices that do not require a European Union (EU) license, including gallium nitride (GaN)high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) die, which are used in a wide range of RF communications applications, including broadband amplifiers, radar, satellite communications, point-to-point radio and telecommunications.

Cree RF products now available through APC Novacom include general purpose broadband die, general purpose 28V and 40V broadband GaN HEMTs, 28V and 50V telecom GaN HEMTs and a variety of GaN HEMTs for satellite communications.
