Distributor Powell Electronics has signed an authorized distribution agreement with America semiconductor and will carry the chipmaker's line of rectifiers, diodes and other products.
Under the agreement, Powell will provide global sales and design support and fulfillment services for America semiconductor products, including high-power standard, fast and super-fast recovery rectifiers, low-power and bridge rectifiers, IGBT modules, Shottky and Zener diodes and other components.
America Semiconductor added Powell to its distribution roster because of Powell's position as a supplier of high performance products to the alternative energy, oil drilling, power grid, welding, HVAC, and transportation industries, the chipmaker said.
Powell is based in Swedesboro, N.J., but has facilities in Canada, the Caribbean, Central and South America, China/Asia, Europe and Mexico. From those locations, Powell provides supply chain and value added services to customers, helping them streamline their supply chain, the distributor said.
Jeffrey Simon, America Semiconductor’s co-CEO, said the partnership with Powell is an opportunity for America Semiconductor to increase sales in diversemarket segments.
He said Powell maintains broad and deep product inventories for small volume and production quantity customers.
“We expect this new distribution agreement will prove to be a huge benefit to everyone, especially our customers,” said Simon.
Bruce Wilpon, America Semiconductor’s co-CEO, said Powell's expertise in providing technical assistance to customers engineering and design teams will provide OEMs with a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
"Powell is a most welcome addition to our global distribution network,” said Wilpon.
Ernie Schilling Jr., Powell CEO and president, said the addition of America semiconductors products to Powell’s line card will enhance the distributor's ability to provide design solutions to a broader array of applications and markets.
America Semiconductor is based in Linden, N.J.
