Long range wide area network (LoRaWAN) connected devices now number 150 million globally, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 25%, according to the LoRa Alliance.
The connected internet of things (IoT) devices represent a range of use cases from utility infrastructure and industrial sensors to agriculture and user devices like smart padlocks, tracked pallets, bikes, panic buttons and more.
Some of these deployments include:
- Over 11.6 million sensors and 174,000 gateways deployed by Zenner Connect in 15 countries.
- 6 million devices connected via The Things Industries’ network.
- Netmore’s 11.2 million active devices on its network.
- 4 million active smart meters in France from Veolia’s deployment.
- 2 million LoRaWAN modules shipped by RAKwireless.
- 800,000 wearable panic buttons from Centegix.
The alliance said it has more than 340 member organizations in the group with more than 695 certified devices and about 1,000 products.
