Wirepas and Texas Instruments (TI) are collaborating on deploying large-scale smart electricity metering networks, with initial deployments happening in India.
Wirepas’ Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) platform is supported on TI’s SimpleLink CC1354P10 multiband wireless microcontroller and the India rollout under the RDSS framework will be one of the largest smart metering programs in the world, the company said.
The AMI platform is a decentralized mesh network based on the NR+ standard that is designed for interoperability and consistent performance independent of the underlying hardware. Wirepas’ platform supported by TI’s MCU will enhance sourcing options for meter manufacturers and system integrators.
“This milestone reflects the continued expansion of our ecosystem in support of smart electricity metering transformation,” said Teppo Hemiä, CEO of Wirepas. “By enabling the Wirepas Platform on TI’s wireless MCU, we provide our partners with greater sourcing flexibility and additional design options, while maintaining full interoperability and performance consistency across deployments.”
The deployment allows users to design and deploy scalable mesh networks using TI hardware and Wirepas’ connectivity platform.
