‘World’s smallest’ AI laser sniper mounted on unmanned ground robot

20 March 2026

An India-based defense technology company has created what it suggests is the world’s most compact artificial intelligence (AI)-powered 2 kW laser sniper mounted on an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV).

According to Olee.space, the directed energy weapon can reportedly neutralize, dazzle or disable hostile targets within mere seconds, and, thanks to its small footprint, can operate in urban zones, border regions, forests, deserts and other challenging terrain where conventional armored systems might not.

Further, the 2 kW directed-energy weapon is capable of disabling enemy personnel, vehicles or equipment within seconds, allowing forces to manage close combat and perimeter security while simultaneously reducing direct exposure to threats, the company explained.

The company added that the UGV that carries the laser sniper measures about 5 feet by 3 feet, weighs roughly 550 lbs and is powered by a diesel engine. Additionally, it can function in coordinated swarms, enabling multiple units to operate together, expand area coverage and respond to simultaneous threats.

Equipped with both AI and machine learning algorithms, the system is capable of detecting, identifying and engaging targets with little human intervention.
