A new humanoid robot designed for industrial environments has been developed by the German startup Agile Robots.
The robot, dubbed Agile One, with its human-like dexterity, 71 degrees of freedom, onboard artificial intelligence (AI) and tactile fingertips for precise manipulation has been developed to handle complex, repetitive and high-precision tasks.

For instance, on the factory floor, the five-fingered Agile One can work safely alongside humans while handling tasks that range from material transport and machine tending to tool use and precise manipulation. Its onboard AI supports audio-based conversations, which allows for intuitive interaction with human workers.
Sanding at 174 centimeters tall and weighing 69 kilograms, the Agile One can carry payloads of up to 44 pounds and reach speeds of up to 2.0 meters per second. Further, the Agile One offers up to eight hours of battery life, which enables extended operation across shifts with the promise of boosting productivity, efficiency and operational consistency.
Thanks to its human-like dexterity, with each of Agile One’s hands equipped with fingertip sensors and force-torque sensing at every joint, the robot can perform both delicate and forceful tasks with precision, stability and adaptability, thus allowing for reliable handling of tools, components and complex assemblies.
