Humanoid ‘superworker’ robot unveiled for agile industrial tasks

13 October 2025

A humanoid robot designed for the industrial space has been developed by the India-based robotics firm Ati Motors.

The Sherpa Mecha humanoid is unlike conventional humanoid robots, which are often designed to replicate both human appearance and motion.

Described as “the world’s first humanoid-inspired robot designed for practical manufacturing applications,” the Sherpa Mecha was not created to mimic the human form. Instead, it is developed to efficiently perform tasks on manufacturing floors, from machine tending to material transport.

Sherpa Mecha is equipped with high-performance actuators, precision gripping and 3D navigation. The robot features a payload capacity of 26 lbs at full extension.

Dubbed a “tool-forward industrial superworker,” Sherpa Mecha is capable of tending machines, handling heavy bins and maintaining focus without fatigue.
