Video: Perimeter robot quietly provides airport security

20 January 2026

At CES 2026, Oshkosh Corp. demonstrated its prototype unmanned ground robot (UGV) designed for autonomous security of perimeters in airports.

It is essentially a self-driving security patrol platform equipped with lidar, sensors and infrared cameras to keep tabs on sensitive areas of an airport. It could also be used for other critical areas that need to keep people out or at least keep tabs on who is coming and going.

However, Oshkosh said it could also be used to do everyday operational tasks at an airfield. The perimeter UGV can identify objects, people and animals while performing tasks like aircraft wheel chocking. The robots can work in all different types of weather, day or night.

Oshkosh said the UGV could also be used in construction for sites that need perimeter monitoring or potentially help with on-site applications.
