T-Mobile was selected by the Los Angeles Organizing Committee (LA28) as the telecom for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
T-Mobile will develop and deploy communications and integrated managed services needed to support the games.
The telecom will focus on four different services:
- Reliable connectivity
- Seamless operations
- Connectivity for event broadcasts
- Showcasing new technologies
T-Mobile will be using its 5G Advanced Network Solutions (5G ANS) to support enhanced connectivity at venues and numerous non-competitive venues in southern California and beyond. A staff of about 15,000 will be connected with push-to-talk services as well as voice lines through the company’s SuperMobile technology that includes network slicing, built-in security and satellite communications (SATCOM).
Piggybacking on this, T-Mobile will ensure that these networks will be reliable with high-bandwidth and secure for point-of-sale systems, even ticketing and more using network slicing and other new technologies.
Event broadcasts will be provided through the International Broadcast Center (IBC), which is the central hub for all broadcast operations for the Olympic Games. T-Mobile will also support the Olympic Broadcasting Services to connect more than 100 broadcast networks globally.
Finally, along with network slicing, T-Mobile said it will use AI-powered data solutions to enhance fan engagement, environmental stability and operational efficiency, the company said.
