Future Electronics features Bosch Sensortec BMV080 ultra-compact particulate matter sensor

Future Electronics has launched a new digital campaign spotlighting the Bosch Sensortec BMV080, an ultra-compact particulate matter (PM) sensor optimized for space-constrained air quality monitoring applications.

The BMV080 by Bosch Sensortec is an advanced PM2.5 air quality sensor designed for real-time monitoring in compact applications. With a sensing element measuring just 4.2 mm3 x 3.5 mm3 x 3.1 mm³ (W x L x H), it offers a highly space-efficient solution for modern air quality monitoring needs. Its fanless, non-intrusive design enhances reliability and ensures seamless integration into a wide range of devices.

The BMV080 addresses this issue by providing precise PM2.5 measurements while also tracking PM1 and PM10 concentrations.

The maintenance-free design eliminates fan-induced dust buildup, improving long-term reliability and reducing the risk of malfunctions. Its compact form factor makes it ideal for integration into ultra-compact internet of things (IoT) devices, including air quality monitors, smart thermostats, HVAC and ventilation systems, air purifiers and wearables.

Using an innovative design based on ultra-compact lasers with integrated photodiodes, the BMV080 applies sophisticated algorithms to measure particulate matter directly in free space without requiring a fan.

Easily integrated into smart home and building automation systems, the BMV080 enables real-time air quality notifications. When PM2.5 levels exceed a set threshold, automated responses such as ventilation activation, exhaust fans or filtration systems can help maintain cleaner indoor air.
