The SPS30 air quality sensor. Source: SensirionSensirion has achieved MCERTS certification for its particulate matter sensor for use in applications that comply with European Air Quality Standards.
The sensor, called SPS30, achieved the certification after lab and field tests were proven to fulfill the latest MCERTS and associated air quality standards. Sensirion claims the SPS30 is the first mass-market particulate matter sensor to receive this certification.
The particulate matter sensor is based on laser scattering and makes use of Sensirion’s contamination-resistance technology that enables precise measurements from its first operation to over a lifetime of more than 10 years.
Additionally, the algorithms provide PM2.5 performance and higher-resolution particle size binning, which opens new possibilities for the detection of different sorts of environmental dust and other particles.
The MCERTS certification was established by the U.K.’s Environment Agency to ensure high-quality environmental data monitoring.
