Software suite targets enhancing AI data center performance

01 July 2025

SiTime Corp. has introduced a software suite that when combined with its oscillators and clocks can deliver nine times more accurate time synchronization in AI data centers.

Called TimeFabric, the software suite consists of two modules:

  • IEEE 1588 standards-compliant synchronization software.
  • Extended critical holdover performance to 24 hours.

SiTime said the software can be used beyond AI data centers and in smart network interface cards, switches, routers and accelerators. Additionally, it can be used in 5G infrastructure like:

  • Remote radio units
  • Base stations
  • Fixed wireless access equipment
  • Core network equipment

The IEEE 1588 precision time protocol (PTP) servo and stack includes sub-nanosecond synchronization accuracy for control and timing stability over generic IEEE 1588 solutions, SiTime said. Network traffic scheduling and load balancing can gain flexibility that will result in higher utilization.

The holdover extension software part of the suite is used to enhance functionality of precision devices with in-field software upgrades. It can deliver up to 24 hours of holdover, which is a critical requirement for infrastructure, SiTime said.
