Rambus Inc. has announced it is now offering complete client chipsets for AI PC memory modules including two power management ICs (PMICs) for client computing
The PMICs offer higher performance for advanced computing applications. The two PMICs include:
- The PMIC5200 for LPDDR5 CAMM2 (LPCAMM2) memory modules.
- The PMIC5120 that supports DDR5 CSODIMMs and CUDIMMs.
When combined with client clock driver (CKD) and serial presence detect hub (SPD Hub), it is a complete chipset offering for memory modules for AI PC notebooks, desktops and workstations, Rambus said.
Additionally, with the PMICs, Rambus offers complete memory interface chipsets for all JEDEC standard DRR5 and LPDDR5 memory modules for both services and clients.
Why it matters
Data rates are continuing to accelerate with applications like 5G and 6G, the internet of things (IoT) and high-resolution media, to meet the demand AI and other advanced workloads, signal integrity and power integrity management will be needed.
AI will play a critical role in managing, optimizing and extracting value from the data.
Specifically, AI and advanced workloads will:
- Provide real-time processing for edge computing.
- Analyze massive volumes of data for automation.
- Identify important data versus low-priority information.
- Dynamically optimize traffic, predict outages and allocate resources.
- Scan high-speed data streams for cyber threats or anomalies.
- Manage and scale cloud infrastructure on demand.
