Intel showed a video rendering of its New Albany, Ohio, campus that is currently under construction. When completed, the campus will house two new semiconductor fabs for its foundry business for both U.S. and European fabless vendors.
Intel is investing more than $28 billion on the construction of the two leading-edge semiconductor factories and recently received $8.5 billion in direct funding through the CHIPS and Science Act to help with the building of the fabs in Ohio as well as the two additional fabs it is building at its Ocotillo campus in Arizona.
Intel said it will benefit from a U.S. Treasury Department Investment Tax Credit (ITC) of up to 25% on more than $100 billion in qualified investments and up to $11 billion for federal loan eligibility.
Intel said this will help in its private investment of more than $100 billion in the U.S. over the next five years. This will work toward increasing capacity for Intel Foundry as well as expand domestic semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S. focused on emerging technologies like AI.
In the video, Intel shows the location of the campus as well as what it will potentially look like from the air and ground level. It also unveils some of the landscaping plans and walkways around the campus. There is no look inside the campus but maybe as the fabs get closer to completion the company will give everyone a peek inside.
