Batteries in Charge (Feb. 11-17)

The everlasting pursuit of high-efficiency and safe energy storage technologies has been the driving force behind much electrical engineering. This need is heightened by the growth of personal electronics, digital networks, electric vehicles, renewable energy sources and more.

Engineers are exploring a diverse range of technologies to enhance existing energy storage and also create new energy mediums. Notable examples include sulfur batteries, which hold promise for higher energy densities and improved sustainability, as well as magnetic energy storage, which offers efficiency and reliability.

The evolution of battery technology goes beyond performance. It also requires a holistic look a manufacturing, maintenance, safety and end-of-life aspects.

As a result, the landscape of battery manufacturing is undergoing novel transformation.
