Looking to expand its total amount of support electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, Ford Motor Company has made new deals with third party charging vendors as well as expanded its deal with Tesla for its Supercharger network.
In total, the company now touts having 106,000 public EV charging points Ford drivers can use to recharge their vehicles.
Drivers on Ford’s proprietary EV network, called BlueOval, will now have access to three new charging providers: Francis Energy, Blink and Red E. These networks are mostly found in the U.S. and Canada. The embedded charger routing and payment options for these third-party vendors will be used via FordPass, Ford’s payment system for charging.
Among the 106,000 public charging points, included are:
- 11,800 fast-charging stations
- 15,000 Tesla Supercharger stations
- 10 third-party EV chargers
In June, Ford formed an agreement with Tesla for use of its 12,000 Supercharger stations across the U.S. and Canada. Ford has since expanded this to 15,000 stations that will be available in the Spring of 2024.
Additionally, the three new EV charging vendors will join Shell Recharge Solutions, Electrify America, EVgo, ChargePoint, FLO, EV Connect and Electric Circuit in the BlueOval network.
