Volvo Cars has opened access to more than 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations in North America for its electric vehicles (EVs).

The move follows a similar move by General Motors in September where it added the 17,800 Tesla Motors’ Supercharger network to its app for drivers of EVs to use with the purchase of a North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter.

The charging points are in addition to the existing thousands of charge points from third party vendors and Volvo’s own proprietary network across the U.S. and Canada. With an NACS adapter, Volvo’s EX90 SUV EV, EX40 and EC40 EVs will all be able to use the Supercharger network.

The NACS adapters for most of the Volvo fleet will be available in mid-November and drivers can access the Supercharger network through the Volvo Cars app. This allows for real-time information on the availability of chargers as well as locations of public charging stations.
