Deployable electric vehicle (EV) charger vendor Tual has installed its first PowerUp Chargers across three SP Energy Networks sites, the company’s first rollout into the U.K.
The rollout follows a pilot project at Middlewich in Cheshire. Other SP Energy Networks locations that will see the installation of the battery-buffered EV chargers will be in Liverpool, England, and Cambuslang, Scotland.
Tual said its PowerUp Charger technology supports the electrification of fleet vehicles for high-speed charging that is reliable compared to other conventional fleet charging technology.

The chargers
The PowerUp EV chargers combine integrated battery energy storage with high-power DC charging to allow the chargers to draw and then store energy from the grid supply before delivering the fast charging to vehicles.
The chargers store energy on site, so in the event of a disruption to the grid, the EV chargers continue to operate. In these conditions, the EV charging units can provide about 600 miles of stored driving energy, Tual said.
