Lowest power consumption BLE module launched

10 March 2023

Murata has introduced a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) module that it claims offers the lowest power consumption for internet of things (IoT) devices.

Called Type 2EG, the module is based on RSL15 secure Bluetooth 5.2 microprocessor from Onsemi and software support for Bluetooth 5.2 specifications. These features include:

  • Long range
  • Proximity
  • High transmit rate
  • 10 simultaneous connections

The module is targeted at markets including IoT edge devices in the medical and industrial fields.

Murata said the low power comes from both the radio and built-in microprocessor are efficient and it contains an on-board Arm Cortex-M33 processor can remain in deep sleep mode while still monitoring for sensor interfaces.

The module measures 7 mm x 7.4 mm x 1.0 mm and integrates Bluetooth LE system-on-chip, RF front end, fast and slow close for operation and sleep mode, a large value inductor for low power mode as well as an on-board antenna.
