Mobileye, a division of Intel, and Geely Holding Group have expanded their collaboration with the launch of the Zeekr 001 electric vehicle (EV) equipped with Mobileye’s SuperVision technology.
Zeekr is a brand of Geely EVs sold in China and there are more than 40,000 vehicles already on the road and they will get the SuperVision capabilities via an over-the-air update.
Additionally, Geely said three other EV brands will launch models with Mobileye’s SuperVision technology beginning in 2023. The Zeekr brand will also introduce two new EV models with SuperVision technology as well as a new lidar-based technology from Mobileye.
The SuperVision technology includes surround vision-based, highway-assist capabilities with special safety features. The Zeekr 001 EV is expected to receive full SuperVision capabilities through over-the-air updates by the end of 2022.
SuperVision uses two 7 nanometer EyeQ 5 system-on-chips (SoCs) and supports point-to-point assisted driving including highway, arterial and rural or urban. The technology allows vehicles to change lanes autonomously, navigate intersections and manage key driving priorities. Intelligent parking and preventive steering and braking are also possible.
The Mobileye system uses 11 high-resolution cameras including seven long-range and four parking cameras for full surround view.
