German startup Blickfeld will unveil what it claims is the first smart 3D lidar and perception software designed for industrial use at CES 2022.
The lidar sensor and perception software functions like movement-based detection and tracking of objects, object classification and counting, zone occupancy detection and zone entry detection with integrated alarm generation.
This means the lidar could be used in a variety of industrial applications such as crow analytics, traffic management, smart industry and security solutions.
Lidar is growing in its use of applications outside the automotive space. In fact, 2021 saw a huge uptick in projects using lidar for use cases outside the car, including indoor mapping, smart cities, robots, drones and much more.
Blickfeld’s Qb2 lidar requires no additional computers, servers or adaptor boxes and the Percept software allows users to create and deploy projects while directly generating actionable data. The software has already been deployed in projects including a people counting application at the Frankfurt, Germany airport.
The lidar includes microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) hardware with a compute module that runs the Percept software stack on the device.
CES 2022 takes place in Las Vegas from Jan. 5-7.
