Volvo Penta, a power solutions provider for the marine and industrial sectors, has debuted its automated boat docking technology at CES 2021.
Originally unveiled in 2018, the Assisted Docking System improves a captain’s control over the boat while docking — arguably one of the most difficult tasks for a boat’s captain. The Assisted Docking System reportedly enables the captain to ensure that a boat stays its course regardless of strong winds and rough currents, both of which can prove both expensive and dangerous for the boat's operator.

The Assisted Docking System incorporates software including a GPS-based dynamic positioning system, inboard performance systems, sensors, propulsion systems and advanced navigation processing power among other technologies, according to Volvo Penta.
