Pi-top will officially launch a new Raspberry Pi-based robotics kit at this week’s CES 2021 that allows makers and engineers to build robot projects with computer vision and applied artificial intelligence (AI).
The pi-top [4] robotics kit comes with electronic components including a wide-angle camera, servos and motors as well as an inertial measurement unit (IMU) microelectromechanical system (MEMS) with an accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer. Of course, the entire design is powered by a Raspberry Pi 4 developer board.
The kit includes a metallic frame with aluminum brackets that are held together via nylon quick build rivets for the construction of a robot chassis that can be pieced together like Legos.
Pi-top said the robotics kit can be used for projects such as drones, automated cars or even a miniaturized smart city as well as numerous robotic configurations that can be used by makers or students wanting to learn science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills.
At launch, the pi-top [4] robotics kit will be available through Amazon and several distributors with a price tag of $199.
CES 2021 is all digital and takes place Jan. 11-14.
