ST develops sensing solutions for IoT, wearables and connected PCs

11 November 2020

ST Microelectronics is developing software solutions for sensors using technology from Qualcomm Technologies Inc.

ST is contributing pre-validated software to OEMs for its microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and other sensing devices to deliver features for next-generation smartphones, connected PCs, internet of things (IoT) and wearables. Previously, Qualcomm selected ST’s motion-tracking IC with intelligent sensor software and ST’s pressure sensor for its 5G mobile reference platforms.

The motion tracking sensor, iNEMO LSM6DST, is a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) with an integrated three-axis digital accelerometer and a three-axis gyroscope into a system-on-package. The sensor allows for high-accuracy motion tracking with minimal power consumption. The low-noise I3C-enabled LPS22HH pressure sensor allows for accurate location tracking.

The LSM6DST supports electronic and optical image stabilization (EIS and OIS) applications as the module includes a dedicated configurable signal processing path for OIS and auxiliary SPI, configurable for both the gyroscope and accelerometer.
