National Instruments acquires OptimalPlus to expand semiconductor test systems

National Instruments Corp. has acquired data analytics software company Optimal Ltd. to expand enterprise software capabilities for automated test and automated measurement systems.

NI said the two companies have complementary positions in the semiconductor, automotive and electronic industries. NI test systems are used in semiconductor manufacturing with OptimalPlus as a semiconductor manufacturing data analytics leader.

Additionally, NI automotive and electronics production test offerings can work with OptimalPlus’ automotive and electronics analytics business. NI said enterprise-level analytics software is expected to increase the value of test and manufacturing data in the coming years with improved quality, efficiency and time to market.

The transaction is valued at $365 million and is expected to close in the third quarter of this year. OptimalPlus had revenues of $51 million in 2019 and the company employs 240 people.
