Signify has introduced a new series of light emitting diodes (LED) that mimics natural daylight, skylight and lightscape to turn indoor spaces into more comfortable and healthy environments.

Studies reveal that natural daylight reportedly supports wellbeing and improves moods, helping people feel happier and healthier. With people spending an average of more than 90% of their time indoors, exposure to the right amount of light sometimes does not happen, Signify said.

The right light impacts human mood, energy level, comfort, quality of sleep and wellbeing in general. The LED series, called NatureConnect, has been installed in one of Skanska’s offices in Warsaw, Poland, a development and construction company.

The NatureConnect lighting combines various LED luminaires with control for:

  • Supporting natural rhythm to mimic the sunlight to support active humans during the day and to encourage sleep at night.
  • Creating the perception of space beyond the walls to give a feeling of freedom and sense of time.
  • Bringing colors and dynamics from nature to improve work environments.

Omdia forecasts that worldwide sales of smart lighting and connected control systems are expected to reach $21 billion by 2023 up from $10 billion in 2018 as LEDs become more pervasive in office spaces and in residential areas.
