Fisker Inc. has been in and out of the news for the past few years to develop luxury all-electric vehicles that would hopefully compete with Tesla Motors.
The latest news was that the company was developing the EMotion sedan along with a flexible solid-state battery that would deliver 2.5 times the energy density of current lithium-ion batteries.
Now, the company has plans to bring an all-electric luxury SUV to CES 2020 that will mark the public debut of the vehicle. The Fisker Ocean unveiling will coincide with a new partnership with Electrify America to make the company’s DC fast charging network in the U.S. compatible with the SUV.
The Fisker Ocean SUV will be a prototype that reflects the actual production vehicle. The electric SUV promises a 200 mile range for driving with about 30 minutes time to charge the battery. Both Fisker and Electrify America are working to reduce charging times even further without compromising battery life.
By 2021, the companies hope to have about 800 charging stations with about 3,500 charging stations across 45 states.
