Bringing the internet of things to security products

20 August 2019

Silicon Labs and Allegion, a maker of security products, are collaborating to bring internet of things (IoT) capabilities to security products for both the smart home and commercial buildings.

Allegion is using Silicon Labs’ Wireless Gecko IoT portfolio, which supports Zigbee, Bluetooth and Z-Wave connectivity, and recently worked with the company to develop a Zigbee-certified Schlage Connect smart deadbolt smart lock for consumers that use a Zigbee home automation system.

The smart lock can be paired with Key by Amazon and an Amazon Cloud Cam, and users can grant access remotely to visitors or family memebers or even opt in for in-home delivery.

Allegion also uses Wireless Gecko in the networked version of the Von Duprin RU/RM exit device that can be cloud-connected and used in educational settings for locking and remote monitoring.

It's about time! Looks like a very important step in the IoT security area, just imagine that the home security camera will be able to identify an approaching threat and put the house into a total lockdown while of course notifying the homeowner and the police.

This is the first time the safety Internet concept has been mentioned by the network operator. The Internet environment poses a lot of risks of insecurity, such as cyber attacks, the infection of malicious code, dangerous viruses, or children unknowingly affected by bad content on shared websites. share big videos ... hill climb racing
