Lighting vendor Osram will illuminate the tracks at the Red Bull Crashed Ice event taking place in Boston on Feb. 9 and 10.

The lighting will guide riders downhill and over jumps and other obstacles during the sporting event. Riders will also be equipped with light emitting diode (LED) embedded gear as they travel the track.

Red Bull Crashed Ice is a sports venue that takes ice skaters from around the world on a steep downhill course, four at a time, reaching speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.

Previously, Osram equipped two Crashed Ice courses with LED lighting for the ice courses in Marseilles, France, and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The company also installed embedded LED lights for the Crashed Ice course in Yokohama, Japan.

The LED lights are from Osram’s Flex product family that can be molded to fit inside the ice to illuminate the track and obstacles.
