Two new 4K products from audio device maker VAVA were announced at CES 2019: the 4K UHD short throw laser projector and the 4K dash cam.

The new high-performance 4K UHD laser projector (MSRP: $3,499) is designed to turn any room into a home theater or any office into a presentation hall. It can be placed 8.5 in from any wall to produce a high-definition projection up to 150 in (12.5 ft). The projector also features HDR10 high dynamic range, with the same advanced laser display (ALPD) 3.0 technology used by movie theater projectors; Harman/Kardon 30 W speakers that support DTS and Dolby sound, along with the option to send audio to outboard speakers via Bluetooth or 3.5 mm; built-in Android 7.0 for smart TV input/output connections; and human detection with smart eyes protection to provide safety through automatic brightness adjustment.

The 4K dash cam (MSRP: $199), a new iteration of VAVA’s original 1080p version launched on Kickstarter in 2017, is designed to help drivers capture and review what's happening on the road in real time. The device offers a 155° field of vision that covers five lanes of traffic.

Additional features include: mobile app functionality, including wireless transfer of photos and videos to smartphones, social media or insurance agencies; three-axis G-sensor activation to automatically record incidents involving sudden motion and collision; plus a built-in battery to capture recordings even when the car is off. While its most important utility may be collecting evidence, the dash cam has a few more entertaining features, as well: instant steering-wheel-view snapshots can be captured with a one-touch remote; travel journaling and photo filtering are offered through the mobile app; and, perhaps best of all, a 360° view swivel plus built-in microphone enables users to “easily record in-car conversations or carpool karaoke moments.”

VAVA’s booth is located at South Hall 4 — 36336 in the Las Vegas Convention Center, which is hosting CES 2019 from Jan. 8-11.
