Laser Engraving a Skateboard Deck

For a variety of reasons, wood is an exceptionally popular material to laser engrave. Whether it’s a pre-made product like this skateboard deck or a hand-made piece of your own, when laser engraved, wood produces wonderful depth and contrast. For this project we utilized the 3D engraving feature in Epilog’s Laser Dashboard, along with a 5-inch specialized lens that helps engrave over the curved edges of the board. This project was done in only one pass, and when complete we simply scrubbed away the excess residue with water and a brush.
