Wearables represent a fast-growing segment of consumer technology, and Redmond, Washington-based Sensoria will add new offerings to the ranks at CES 2018 with the introduction of two new types of "smart shoe."

The Sensoria Smart Running Shoe, or SRS, uses its Sensoria Core microelectronic technology to connect runners to their sneakers. The shoe employs embedded textile pressure sensors and draws on input from an AI coach to provide biometric feedback for improved performance and enhanced health and safety.

The Sensoria Core hardware features an accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer; by combining data from the shoes' textile pressure sensors, users are able to precisely measure and track cadence, foot landing technique, contact time on ground and impact forces in addition to pace, distance, time and calories burned. The device is also built for a long lifespan, and can be transferred when a user purchases a new pair of shoes.

The Motus Smart, being launched in partnership with Italian medical equipment manufacturer Optima Molliter, is a smart shoe designed for diabetics. It leverages the same Sensoria Core technology and embedded textile pressure sensors to monitor patient compliance, helping to manage diabetic foot ulceration and prevent amputations from becoming medically necessary. The sensors work with a text messaging system and web dashboard to facilitate intervention as needed.

At CES 2018, Sensoria can be found at booth #44334 in the Technology & Fitness Marketplace in Tech West, Sands Expo, Level 2.
