Power Transistor Handles Thermal Conditions Better Than Plastic Packaged MOSFETs

The EPC2046 power transistor has a voltage rating of 200 volts and a maximum RDS of 25 megaohms with a 55 amp pulsed output current. EPC says the chip-scale packaging of the transistor handles thermal conditions better than plastic packaged MOSFETs since heat dissipated directly to the environment with chip-scale devices, whereas the heat from the MOSFET die is held in the plastic package.

EPC is offering a development board that is a 200 volt maximum device voltage, half bridge with onboard gate driver with the EPC2046, onboard gate drive supply and bypass capacitors. The board contains all the components necessary for evaluation, EPC says.

The EPC2046 is priced at $3.51 each in 1,000 unit quantities and the development board is priced at $118.75.
