EDA Consortium Changes Name and Charter

05 April 2016

The international association EDA Consortium has changed its name to the Electronic System Design (ESD) Alliance and has modified its charter in order to reflect a more system-oriented approach that is happening in the semiconductor industry.

Originally formed in 1989, the consortium was created to provide Electronic Design Automation (EDA) companies with an outlet to not just promote the EDA market but also to address cross-industry issues and challenges. Under the ESD Alliance, the new mission statement for the group will reflect the interests of the integrated circuit and system design ecosystem, a critical component of the global semiconductor industry, the Alliance says.

The Alliance is forming working groups that will explore the challenges and opportunities in the market and will complement other groups working on export, interoperability, license management and anti-piracy, market statistics and trade shows.
