Just a few years ago, drones were a niche consumer item with just first adopters using them for aerial photography. Today, drones are everywhere, whether they are performing light shows during holidays, conducting field tests for industrial vendors, surveying caves for new minerals or being used by consumers for a variety of entertainment options.
At the center of the consumer drone sector is DJI, which has been rolling out multiple types of drones for at least a decade. As technology for cameras and flight have advanced, so have the drones that have become available for consumers.
That culminates in the DJI Mini 5 Pro drone, which now packs the same features as DJI’s larger drones into a smaller form factor. The drone has a 1-inch 50-megapixel sensor that improves the camera quality from the previous generation drone. It also shoots 4K video at 120 fps, which is also an improvement from previous models.
One of the most interesting features of the Mini 5 Pro drone is the inclusion of lidar and obstacle avoidance sensing capabilities. This allows the drone to detect and avoid obstacles at night, so it allows for even more potential photographic scenarios for hobbyists or professionals.
The following is a partial deep dive into the DJI Mini 5 Pro drone conducted by TechInsights.
