200 W smart amplifier module purpose-built for critical C-UAS and EW applications

07 August 2026

Empower RF Systems has announced the release of its new Model 1240, a compact, high-performance radio frequency (RF) amplifier module delivering a guaranteed minimum of 200 W across the 900 MHz to 1,700 MHz frequency range. Designed to address the evolving demands of modern electronic warfare (EW) and counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS), the Model 1240 expands Empower RF’s portfolio of tactically deployable, high-reliability solutions.

The Model 1240 is a full gain “smart module” built on advanced gallium nitride (GaN) transistor technology, integrating comprehensive control and monitoring features to ensure consistent RF performance under all environmental conditions. Its compact form factor and high power density make it ideal for mobile, airborne, shipboard and ground-based defense platforms where space, weight and reliability are critical.

What sets the Model 1240 apart is its strategically targeted frequency coverage. The 900 MHz to 1,700 MHz Source: Empower RF Systems Source: Empower RF Systems range aligns directly with operationally significant bands used in modern communications, navigation and drone control systems:

  • Cellular disruption: The 900 MHz band and adjacent ranges are widely used for GSM and cellular communications globally, making them key targets for signal denial.
  • GNSS interference: GPS and GNSS systems operate within the L-band (1 GHz to 2 GHz), leveraging frequencies such as L1 (1575.42 MHz), L2 (1227.60 MHz), and L5 (1176.45 MHz) for accurate positioning and navigation
  • Drone control and telemetry: The 900 MHz ISM band is commonly used for long-range drone command links and video transmission.

The introduction of the Model 1240 is not a replacement of existing solutions, but a strategic addition — giving system designers and integrators a new, high-power option tailored to real-world operational needs. By covering this spectrum, the Model 1240 provides a powerful tool for enabling or disrupting positioning, timing and control systems.
