Drone-killer suit zaps UAVs from 4 miles away

A counter-drone solution developed by California-based DZYNE Technologies has been developed amid the growing need for counter unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) in military operations.

The Dronebuster Detect, Track, Identify, Mitigate (DTIM) Kit is a compact and portable system that promises to enhance situational awareness and potentially offer protection against hostile drones.

According to its developers, the Dronebuster DTIM is an electronic attack system featuring an optional Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) capability for countering GNSS-enabled drones.

Weighing just under 9 pounds, the Dronebuster is made up of two primary components — a Dronebuster mitigation system and a Dronebuster DTI system — the combination of which provides an integrated drone detection and neutralization approach.

Specifically, the DTI system enhances situational awareness by offering detection, tracking and identification capabilities that enable the system to identify and potentially down drones from up to 4.3 miles, across a wide frequency range, from 400 MHz to 6 GHz.

Further, the system’s omnidirectional antennas enable greater mobility, offering real-time feedback via haptic, audio and visual indicators.

Additionally, the DTI system can pinpoint the locations of drones, using Remote ID and AeroScope technologies.
