Melexis MLX90520 dual-input inductive encoder interface IC

29 May 2026

The Melexis MLX90520 is a dual-input inductive encoder interface IC designed for absolute rotary and linear motion sensing in demanding robotic and industrial environments. With synchronized dual-channel readout, it enables precise measurement of two independent positions or supports advanced Vernier angle calculations for enhanced resolution.

Built to control complete inductive sensing systems, the MLX90520 drives transmitting coils and processes signals from multiple receiver coils using integrated digital signal processor (DSP) capabilities. Its on-chip LC oscillator generates the electromagnetic field required for accurate position detection, ensuring stable and reliable performance even in harsh conditions.

With flexible output options including serial peripheral interface (SPI) and synchronous serial interface (SSI,) fast data transfer and low latency performance, the MLX90520 simplifies system design while delivering high accuracy and dynamic response. Its immunity to magnetic stray fields and support for safety standards up to SIL 2 make it ideal for next-generation industrial automation and robotics applications.
