Semiconductor wavefront phase imaging metrology vendor Wooptix is expanding its R&D and manufacturing capabilities with the construction of a cleanroom facility in Tenerife, Spain.
The cleanroom will be used as a hub for innovation to support the assembly of new equipment along with comprehensive testing, validation and demonstration activities.
The facility will span about 200 square meters with a 70-square-meter cleanroom and an additional 30 square meters for testing and metrology activities. Construction of the facility has broken ground and will begin soon. It is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
“By establishing a fully owned and operated facility, we gain greater independence and control over our production processes while positioning ourselves for sustained growth in the global semiconductor market,” said José Manuel Rodríguez Ramos, CEO, Wooptix.
The Tenerife region will have some added benefits, Wooptix said. The facility and its proximity to the sea will allow for the transport of large, sensitive machinery at a cheaper cost. The growing technology ecosystem of the region will also provide institutional backing for long-term scalability, the company said.
