A limited-edition robot horse designed to commemorate the 2026 Year of the Horse has been developed by the Hangzhou-based startup DEEP Robotics.
The robot horse is reportedly an adaptation of the startup’s flagship Lynx M20 Pro platform. However, while standard quadrupeds, otherwise known as “robot dogs, often feature utilitarian limbs, these robot horses instead feature bionic legs and hoof-like feet designed to mimic actual horses.

Built on the same architecture as used for industrial inspections, emergency rescues and logistics, the so-called “robo-pony” weighs approximately 66 lbs, stands half a meter tall and has a reported payload capacity of approximately 110 lbs.
Further, the robo-pony can reach a maximum velocity of 5 m/s and, because the unit is rated with IP66 ingress protection, it can reportedly operate in rain, mud and dust, with an operating temperature range of -4° F to 131° F.
Additionally, the robo-pony is outfitted with 96-line lidar and advanced simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technology, enabling it to offer 360° situational awareness and autonomous obstacle avoidance.
According to its developers, the DEEP Robotics Year of the Horse Special Edition is priced around $50,000. It is currently being marketed as a premium collector’s item or a high-end marketing tool for organizations seeking to showcase automation with a cultural flair.
