New humanoid robot lifts 132 lbs with ease

27 February 2025

A China-based manufacturer of robots has developed a humanoid robot capable of lifting up to 132 pounds in factory settings.

The “Laborer” series robot from Wuhan Glory Road Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., which is 5.9 ft tall and weighs 209 lbs, relies on a motion control algorithm that enables it to carry loads between 88 lbs and 132 lbs while simultaneously maintaining a straight-legged walk.

Its developers suggest that the humanoid robot, with its metallic frame and articulated arms and legs, is intended for heavy factory or warehouse use.

Reportedly outperforming the lifting capacity of similar humanoid robots — for instance Apptronik’s Apollo and Figure’s Figure 2, both with a lift capacity of roughly 55 lbs — the Laborer series of humanoid robots is able to mimic human movement while performing industrial tasks.
