Analog, digital and mixed-signal pure-play foundry LA Semiconductor LLC plans to sell its wafer fab with backend capability located in Pocatello, Idaho.
The decision to sell the 31-acre campus aligns with LA Semiconductor’s strategic objectives to streamline its operations to focus on being an International Traffic in Arms Regulators (ITAR) registered, onshore semiconductor fab.
This allows LA Semiconductor to produce semiconductors or other electronic components intended for military, defense or aerospace applications in compliance with the U.S. national security and foreign policy regulations.
"Buyers are prioritizing ready-to-run brownfield fabs that can be brought online faster with fewer execution risks than greenfield builds, boosting market activity inside the United States,” said Pat Sedlmayer, co-GM at LA Semiconductor.
The company said it will continue to operate with a focus on delivering custom semiconductors for industries like:
- Automotive
- Defense
- Aerospace
- Medical
- Industrial
- Commercial
The facility currently produces technologies ranging from 0.18-micron to 1.5-micron digital, analog and mixed-signal bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCD), CMOS, bipolar, advanced discrete and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS)
The Pocatello facility will be sold by Macquarie Group. This will include the site, installed equipment and related assets.
