Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced what it claims is the world’s smallest microprocessor, which is about the size of a black pepper flake and is targeted for medical wearables and personal electronics.
At Embedded World 2025, TI said the MPU, which measures 1.38 mm2, can be integrated into a range of everyday electronic items such as electric toothbrushes, earbuds, medical probes and stylus pens. Given its tiny size, it will allow these devices to become increasingly compact.
TI said the MPU is 38% smaller than competing devices.
The tiny MPU features:
- Arm Cortex-M0+
- 16 KB of memory
- 12-bit ADC with three channels
- Six general purpose I/Os
- Compatibility with UART, SPI and I2C
TI said this will allow engineers to design products of any size while simultaneously reducing cost and complexity.
Embedded World 2025 takes place this week in Nuremberg, Germany.
