If there was ever a place to learn how much influence artificial intelligence will have on our daily lives moving forward, CES 2025 is it.
For the past two years, the world’s largest consumer tradeshow has brought numerous innovations in the realm of AI in a range of sectors. But this year’s show will be something not seen before. Virtually every company in attendance will be featuring something involving how AI will be used to either make things more efficient, make things easier or transform completely how we live.
AI, whether we like it or not, whether we want it or not, is going to be involved in our lives probably forever. How it permeates our daily lives is another question. Some are working with AI to allow appliances in the kitchen to inform you when something is expired, or something needs refilling. Some are working with AI to regulate the best audio levels for your ears without causing damage. Some are working with AI to enable new ways for machines to communicate on the warehouse floor.
This will be the largest trend not just at CES 2025 but throughout the year.
Other trends
It is very likely that both Nvidia and AMD will be introducing new semiconductors. This will also come with a slew of announcements from PC makers and data centers. Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia, will kick off the show on Monday and will likely introduce next-generation GPUs.
Automotive trends will be in high demand as cars are always a staple of CES. The show will likely introduce a variety of new technologies for electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, infotainment and ADAS.
Along these same lines, numerous prototypes will be shown from both the automotive sector and the aerospace sector. While many of these prototypes are the stuff of science fiction, it does show the potential where these markets could go in the far future.
There will also be a switch to microLED televisions that will take even further shape in 2025 as numerous consumer electronics giants make the technology mainstream.
Digital health will be another huge trend happening at CES 2025 as technology becomes even a larger part of our daily healthcare.
Keynotes
As usual, CES will feature a wide range of keynotes from leaders in technology. This year, the keynotes include:
- Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia
- Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines
- Martin Lundstedt, president and CEO of the Volvo Group
- Tekedra N. Mawakana, Co-CEO of Waymo
- Yuki Kusumi, group CEO of Panasonic Holdings Corp.
- Julie Sweet, chair and CEO of Accenture
- Jennifer Witz, CEO of SiriusXM
The interesting thing here is that while the staples of automotive are here as well as the leading hardware provider for both autonomous vehicles and AI in Nvidia, Delta Air Lines and Accenture are also dabbling in AI and exploring how technology is changing how these companies do business.
Indy Autonomous Challenge
This event has been a staple at CES in previous years, showcasing how autonomous vehicles can also be used for racing. It will once again be at CES 2025.
At the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Jan. 9, 2025, the autonomous race will feature several vehicles from universities across the globe including:
- Michigan
- Michigan State
- Colorado State
- KAIST
- Purdue
- Indiana University
- California Institute of Technology.
The focus will be on working on a common AI and robotics platform that could be extended to autonomous vehicles and projects for the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The IAC has been selected as an official test and evaluation platform to be used for improving AI training for autonomous systems.
CES 2025 takes place Jan. 7-10, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
