AI processor startup Ambient Scientific has introduced what it claims is the first coin cell battery powered AI module designed for always-on AI operation in small devices.

Called Sparsh board, the small AI module can run on a coin cell battery for months and is equipped with motion sensors, a digital microphone Bluetooth low energy module and other components.

Sparsh board is designed for rapid prototyping of a range of AI applications like:

  • Human activity recognition
  • Voice control
  • Acoustic event detection
  • Gesture control
  • Assault detection
  • Asthma detection
  • Fall detection

The Sparsh board includes motion sensors, digital microphone, BLE module and other components for small form factor AI applications. Ambient Scientific said it plans to launch several reference designs for battery-powered AI applications and other small form factors in the realm of wearables, healthcare devices, voice-controller toys and more.

The software stack for the AI module includes AI frameworks like Tensorflow and keras as well as continuously evolving homegrown compilers, the company said.

CES 2025 takes place January 7-10, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
