General Motors and third-party fast charging electric vehicle (EV) vendor EVgo Inc. are expanding their collaboration to build an additional 400 fast charging stalls in major cities across America.
The EV stations will feature up to 20 stalls, with some larger stations having higher stall counts, and will deploy coast to coast including in the states of Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York and Texas.
The stations will be co-branded and will include other amenities like shopping, dining, coffee shops and other services that drivers can use while they charge their vehicles, the companies said. The stations are expected to open next year.
In addition to the services, the stalls will include 350 kW fast chargers as well as:
- Canopies
- Pull-through stations
- Security cameras
- Ample lighting
“The future of EV charging is larger stall count locations, high-power charging and designing around features that customers love — such as pull-through access, canopies and convenient amenities,” said Dennis Kish, president at EVgo. “In order to be the charging provider of choice, we need to lead on customer satisfaction, and we will continue to innovate to deliver a charging experience that is convenient, comfortable and dependable for current and future EV drivers.”
Future deployments
Under the collaboration, a total of 2,850 DC fast charging stalls will be deployed with funding reallocated to flagship locations in major cities. The 2,000th stall is expected to be installed by the end of 2024. The companies completed 1,000 stalls in August of 2023.
