SEMI has announced a new governing council for smart healthcare technology that is aimed at guiding global healthcare technology through innovation, democratization and advancement in care.
The goal of the Smart MedTech initiative is to bridge life sciences and engineering from both semiconductor and medical industries. The focus will be on new emerging technologies that may be able to reduce costs and increase healthcare access. These technologies include wearables, artificial intelligence and commercialization strategies.
The initiative will collaborate with regulatory bodies, academia and others to drive technology development and market adoption.
“The Healthcare Revolution will shift from a provider-centric to a personalized care model with success critically dependent upon microelectronics and related technology,” said Gity Samadi, the lead of the SEMI Smart MedTech initiative. “Our newly elected Smart MedTech Governing Council will advise on the initiative’s efforts to provide funding, knowledge, and collaboration opportunities to proactively build an ecosystem that can drive healthcare and medical electronics innovation toward products that serve society faster.”
